The Year of the Goat is the 8th position in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac, which is also known as the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

The Goat is also associated with the Earthly Branch (地支—dì zhī) wèi (未) and the hours 1–3 in the afternoon. In the terms of yin and yang (阴阳—yīn yáng), the Goat is yin.

In Chinese culture, the Goat is the symbol of filial piety, as well as purity and kindness. Xiè Zhì (獬豸) is a mythological one-horned goat. It was the assistant of Gāo Yáo (皋陶), god of Justice.

Goats are able to persevere through any difficulty. This is their most notable trait. They are strong and resilient, though their gentleness might be misleading. They have high tolerance and motivation. Quiet observers, Goats consider all aspects of anything before deciding. They never act brashly and are able to complete tasks successfully.

On the obverse face of the bar you can see the image of a lone goat, with tall horns and long hair. The goat is featured standing amidst some tall grass, with the Chinese symbol for goat engraved above the animal on this side.

The reverse side of the bar includes a surprise. First youll notice the goat from the obverse is visible from behind on this side, and then you notice that a baby goat is laying behind the adult amidst the grass. Engravings on this side include the PAMP Suisse logo above the goats, the bars weight, metal content, and purity on the adult, an individual serial number on the baby goats body, and the assayers mark below.
